milestones: a year ago we bought our first house

Tuesday, September 16, 2014

A year ago today Jason and I set out on an exciting new journey.

To add to our already crazy-exciting list of things we had done in the past 3 1/2 months:
-we got engaged
-we got married
-we went on a two week honeymoon
-we packed up to move 2,200 miles away from where I grew up

and then....

We bought a house.

A year ago today, on our one month wedding anniversary we signed a million pieces of paper and bought the house we're living in now.

Those first days here were such precious times for us.
But I think I was naive back then about just how different it was going to be living so far away from home.
That part of it has been an emotional roller coaster ride and still is to this day.

It's comforting having someone so supportive and understanding to help me through it all, especially on those tough days.

- moving day from the apartment in California -

- moving day to our house in Minnesota -

one thing to be thankful for is that...our house is no longer that messy (;

I believe that life is an adventure and that every moment given to us is precious. Even the difficult ones. These little fragments of life all add up to form us into who we're going to be for the rest of our lives.
So while there are days where I have to reel myself back in from daydreaming of moving somewhere else (warmer) and starting a new adventure with Jason rightnowthissecond, I try to remember that we are here in this place for a season and that another adventure is always on its way.
Just waiting for us to take the leap of faith it takes to get there
and run alongside it with reckless abandon.

Because that's where the beauty of life truly lies.

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,  I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:12-14
