California {my birthday and our vacation}

Tuesday, April 29, 2014

Earlier this month, Jason and I flew back to California to visit my family for a week and to have a nice little vacation for my birthday and for the end of his heavy work season.

For my birthday, Jason and I stayed in a beach-front condo just outside the Oceanside harbor where we could see the waves crashing on the shore from the living room window and the waves lulled us to sleep at night. It was so nice to get away from the cold we had been living in for the past five months and get out in the warm air. (Okay let's be real, the hot air.)

The grounds where the condo was were absolutely beautiful! There were little wood bridges and large multilevel wooden decks and walkways everywhere, little creeks and waterfalls, ponds with koi fish, and all kinds of different plants that made it almost feel like you were in a rainforest! We used the condo's fitness center while we were there a few times and saw that there was even a large waterfall that went over top of the gym/rec room area. I couldn't get over how pretty it all was!

On my birthday, we took a stroll on the beach and walked out onto the rock-pier and just watched the waves together for a while. Later on in the evening, we walked to the end of the real pier and went to Ruby's for my birthday dinner. It was a very quiet and relaxing birthday, but it's what I needed this year.
Here's to being 23!

  1. Sounds like a blast! I haven't been to Cali since Christmas 2012 :( No matter how nice seasons are, I really miss my palm trees and mountains lol

    1. Aw man :( That's a long time to go without going home! It had only been five months for me since I had been back and I was itchy to go back! haha. Then we got there... and the traffic, no stars in the sky, and lots of traffic just made me miss Minnesota haha. But I sure missed seeing the mountains! The closest thing we have to a mountain range here is the bridge going over the train crossing *sigh* lol
