2013 has been a big year for me.
I'm sad to see it go.

I know there's always the whole "make the next year even better than the last" mindset,
but honestly, I'm going to miss 2013.

It sounds silly, I know.
But I accomplished a lot this year.
And a lot has changed.

This year I:
Started officially dating Jason after being close friends for 2 and a half years
Moved out into an apartment on my own 10 miles from home
Heard Taylor Swift's 22 for the first time ever on my 22nd birthday, without even meaning to {cheesy, deal with it}
Got engaged
Left my first "real" job
Got my driver's license
Successfully watched Father of the Bride with my dad two nights before getting married without completely and entirely losing it
Got married
Became a wife
Went on a honeymoon (and several planes!)
Went to a new country
My family size doubled instantly, with the addition of all my amazing in-laws
Bought a house
Moved out of my home state to Minnesota
Painted walls for the first time
Started this blog
Explored my interests, like photography and home-making, and writing again
Had my first white Christmas
Became a regular at the border crossing, because we go to Canada several times a week
Experienced negative forty degree weather in a t-shirt and leggings {like a pro}
Had my first Christmas away from my family {and that was hard}
Shoveled snow, lots of it
Started reading a book I've been meaning to read for the past 12 years

It's been a big year.
I'm so happy with all that's happened
{except being so far from my family isn't always ideal}
Today is the last day of this year that all of this happened.
After today it will no longer be the same year I got married.
Which is kind of cool in a way, because last night I saw Valentine's chocolates at a store we went to, and thinking of how Valentine's day is in roughly 6 weeks makes me realize how we're 6 weeks away from being married for 6 months which is half a year which is crazy
{February 16th is our 6th month anniversary which makes Valentines Day an entirely cheesy way to celebrate our half-anniversary every year.}
But I'll miss this year, because I can say that this has been the best year of my life so far.

I don't know if I'll be able to cram that many accomplishments into one year ever again like I did this year.
That's not to say it's all downhill from here.
It's just been a wonderful year.
A whirlwind.
I'm not sure if I will experience one quite like it again in my lifetime.
I'm sure there will be others, but they will be different from this kind of excitement and joy and discovery.

Here's to what has been an absolutely amazing year,
And the hope that this next one will bring about further growth in my life
To bring in and create even more love and happiness throughout the year.

And here's to looking forward that once it's officially 2014,
we're only that much closer to our Spring or Summer 2014 tropical vacation that Jason and I are planning to take.
